My husband has presented Local Guides program to me. Initially, my intentions were just to support him on his posts as a Local Guide.
Then, my will to share my evaluations and tips, and also to improve the Google Maps informations, has led me to create an account and become a Local Guide too. This was a very interesting and exciting experience! Google shares to us the results of our contributions and this keeps us motivated to continue posting. Also, sometimes, we receive some return from a visitor. This is very rewarding and encourages us to do more and better.
This program makes us a real contributor in our community and makes us felling as a real part of it, helping other people to find the places where to eat a good meal, to spend the afternoon into the nature, to go for a walk. They may make plans and even calculate how much they will spend or how long they need to be there to conclude some activity.
These are the benefits of being a Local Guide: you just support people from all the globe, moved by the intention to help without anything in return. This program (I believe it was not its maining goal) makes people better, improves the human being and makes us to believe that we can be more human. Every day.
