A few years ago I started to be part of the Local guides community, I didn’t really know about the project I was participating on and I don’t remember very well how I met it. I have always been a lover of taking pictures of landscapes and of knowing new places, besides I love sharing them so that people are encouraged to do it and to know them too. I remember that my first trip out of my city I shared it minute by minute with my friends in my social networks, I just loved the fact of giving them to know a little bit of what I was living and I was very excited for them to see it, although I think that they even seemed annoyed. This experience allowed me to later understand the importance of sharing and to integrate in community to better interpret the places you visit and do it in the right way, because with Local Guides I found a place where people are excited to see and read what I have to say about a place.

On that trip I did not really know where to go or what place it would be interesting to visit and photograph of course, and now that I think it, Google Maps would have been very useful. I know that after this trip I started a new adventure in Maps, started to make reviews, to comment on places and to understand better than my contribution as a Local Guide was valuable for the community. Today I am much more active in community, I participate more, I understand its scope and I am even writing a Post! This seems great to me and I think is one of the best inventions ever.
How I kind of mentioned I love knowing everything about the place I live, and of course my country. Even trough I try to explore new places in my city and country,I know that there is a lot else to know. Google Maps has helped me a lot in my trips now that I really know how to use it and even in my daily life, I always use it to be aware of my location in every new places I explore, and I know Im not the only one! It has help me to go around cities that I visit and that I never had being before. For that I think that being a local guide definitely makes me contribute to find new places and new adventures around the world, but I also think that I’m making a better story of my country, the cities their landscapes and everything that is so particular and special about Colombia. That’s why I love to share my reviews about the wonderful places that you can find in it, like The Coffe Park, which is shown in the picture and looks as out of a movie . Or the magic museums of Medellin with its particular Metro Culture, Guatape with the wonderfull lake´s landscape, in the north with Cartagena and it’s wonderful beaches and historical places, that will take out your breath and will transport you to another time and many other sites you can find.
Being a local guide it´s about passion for helping others to know and experience new things, and that is what I love the most in being part of this program, that from the beging , after the trip that I shared minute by minute, it has taught me how great it can be to help others marvel as you have done.
