The 220-year old Frederik’s Church in Copenhagen, Denmark, resumed construction after a 100-year halt due to lack of funds. Almost completely built of marble later had to give up the original plan, instead of mainly adopting the limestone more. The church is baroque in style, with a huge dome and different beautiful paintings. Sitting quietly on a bench, looking up, you can appreciate the art in the paintings.
On both sides of the church walls hung the organ, such a delicate work of art. When walking into a church, you can feel calm and read the works around you.
Frederik’s church, and the entire Frederiksberg district, were designed by architect Nicolai Eigtved in 1740 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the Oldenburg dynasty’s ascension to the Danish throne.
The gold inscribed letters on top of the pillars in front entrance of the church are the words: 「HERRENS ORD BLIVER EVINDELIG」, meaning “the words of the Lord endure forever*”.* A statue of Kierkegaard, prominent Danish philosopher, stands on top of walls outside the church.
Church always can make people feel peaceful and serene.
