I love the outfit (frightening indeed) and mode of transport @Herve_Andrieu , out of this world. No wonder you get stopped, you guru you lol. Tricked into a hobby…unable to stop haha! All I can say is that we’re all nerds just some of us are bigger nerds than others LOL. By the way, when you finish photographing the United States, come down under.
I do have to add that as well as those in the limelight in articles such as this, there is a countless number of great Local Guides doing the hard yards contributing in their own local communities, both big and small, and making the world a better place through Maps. Just have a look at those high achieving contributors in each of the 70+ countries, both big and small, listed on the country leaderboards. Isn’t it just wonderful being part of such an enthusiastic group in this now global village!!
May I suggest a Connect handle update to “Swerve_Andrieu” @Herve_Andrieu . I’ve never given blood for the Map, man, that’s wild.
That’s a wild & genius setup. I was just looking at your 360 pictures the other day and tried to figure out what your mode was. I thought you were on a bike. Definitely much more rad than a bike!
This is a nice article no doubt and I always feel any form of publicity for the local guides program is an advantage for the local guides themselves. Keep up the publicity man
It should make editing, taking photographs, etc for the maps easier. It should give us less troubles with the police security etc
That said,I am quite taken aback not because it was written and published and I got a mention without my consent but because that story of mine was even noticed at all (Lol) I mentioned it to @AdamGT for the use of that post and felt it was forgotten and gone. It was fairly serious really. I ended up spending my whole day sorting that out. I was terrified of spoiling my reputation as a missionary too. I am happy I got out of it. I’ll not plan to get into such trouble anyone.
Interesting to read the amount of stuff that was dug out into the article and all those who got a mention as well.
Hilarious you @JustJake as always. . Nice comment on this @MortenCopenhagen . Let’s see the reaction on the part of the team.
What a fantastic insight, I sincerely hope this goes more mainstream so that more of the general public can understand the efforts made by many behind the scenes, it would also be amazing to have a follow-up with a response from Google as the “Ignored by the overlord” and “wish list” sections will resonate with so many LGs that are becoming disillusioned with it all at times.
Keep up the great work and thanks to all of those mentioned in it for all you do to help and inspire us “little guys”.
What a well written article @hkeely and thanks for posting this @Herve_Andrieu I think it gives us a little insight into what makes some of our guides click and certainly some of the issues we face. Thanks for the small mention Harrison, I have to get out and take more photos,
I kind of stopped “complaining” about 2 years ago because I felt I was trying to move a machine that was not interested in moving… and that would make me sound negative…
"Always look at the bright side of life ", I decided there are some other LGs who are better suited at making things change apparently and I will focus on what I can do… Publish photos of POIs
My last “complaint” about trust of regular LGs:
@Herve_Andrieu Wow excellent article the stories really touched my heart, Everyone is explaining why he is an LG and this is really what it means to leave fingerprints and help people to have an idea next time before visiting any place on the map.
Many thanks for shedding (in details) a spotlight on top LGs and their crazy map addiction.
Indeed congratulation to the mentioned billionaire views @Jesi, @MelTG, @Mikeinthefalls, @jayasimha78, @JanVanHaver, @SholaIB, @AdamGT - I have read many of your posts and track your monthly progress and still it adds to much to know what makes you all tick. You are all MVPs!
Above all the mighty @Herve_Andrieu - A true inspiration for all and I didn’t realize you are still sockless. Come on Google, Get your act together!
While I definitely got the LG bug and likely will join soon enough the exclusive 1b club, I can’t see me anytime pushing the effort to zooming around yellow vested on a unicycle with camera on head. Unlike the lovely (and SUPER tolerant) Andrea, my significant other would have me committed faster than you can say “google Maps”!
