The majestic lake of the Pearl of the West

It was originally home to Nahua peoples whose heritage is part of the cultural heritage of the region. It is the most important body of fresh water in the country and is the main source of drinking water for the country’s third largest metropolis (Guadalajara, Mexico). The beauty of the immense body of water is enjoyed on boat rides to the various tourist attractions. In the bucolic riverside towns, such as Chapala and Ajijic, you can savour artisanal products, or enjoy traditional dishes in restaurants, especially La Palapa del Guayabo and Pancha la Boba, while admiring the panoramic views of the immense reservoir.
