The longest chariot festival starts today

Avalokiteshvara also known as Bungadya Karunamaya, Guanyin and Ratomachindranath is one of the avatar of Avalokieshvara the God of rain worshipped by both Hindus and Buddhist of Newa community in Nepal. The Chariot festival is the longest one among all Chariot festivals. Before placing the lord in the chariot a month back several rituals are performed. The chariot festival lasts from 3 months up to 6 months and should end before the Dashain festival. Bungadya is said to be the God of Rain and Crops who was born in family of Rakchyaa(Devils) and bought all the way from Kamakachhya in India.

Avalokiteshvara is a famous deity worshiped in Central, South East and South Asia.
