I’ve been an active Google contributor for over two years now. Having moved me and my family from Bradford to Stevenage, I had concerns of having to re-establish a network of new friends, contacts and local people that helped me with every day and not so frequent issues and essentials.
The Google network of guides in Stevenage was pretty weak, so I decided that I would fill that gap. I found a grocer on the edge of town that was a little gem, but under utilised. I was so happy they had everything I needed in a grocer, all my favourite brands and the quality of fresh meat! However the grocer wasn’t that popular, the reason being because the town had 4 major supermarkets nearby and trade was very infrequent, on some days they would close early. I made friends with the owner and I offered to set them up on Google with pictures, and a bio of their store.
Now two years later, my pictures of the store and its contents have amassed over 10k views and their store has a rating above 4.5 stars, they have managed to increase revenue and reinvested back in to the grocer starting more lines and attracting all areas of Stevenage’s community. A fantastic success story for the known unknowns.
