The Local Photographer

Hello, first and foremost my name is Anees Imran, and I am a final year student in Computer Science. I have always been interested in photography and exploring and admiring the beautiful world around me. However, I did not have access to a camera during my childhood, and at most I was able to use my parents flip phones to take pictures. I came across this quote which inspired me to be a better photographer, and despite the poor camera I still enjoyed photography:

“The best camera is the one you have with you.”

I began my photography journey with my first ever smartphone the Orange San Francisco with it’s below average, a tiny sensor that often made daylight photos look dark. But, this did not stop me from downloading manual cameras and use the camera to its fullest potential. Fast forward a few years to when I got my HTC 10, my first smartphone which had an impressive camera spec for its time. During this period, I was introduced to the Google Local Guide scheme, an opportunity to share my images to my community and share what I see and experience through pictures and give them a taste of what I saw from my eyes.

From this point and onwards I began exploring new places and restaurants that I have not witnessed before just for the sake of giving my opinions and take photos of that place. As of now, my photos combined have totalled in over one million views, and I have visited places from my hometown Ilford, London to places such as Clacton-on-sea, Wales, Turkey, Manchester and a lot more.

My journey doesn’t end here, despite the limited free time due to University studies, I am a proud owner of the Pixel 2 XL and now manage an Instagram account where I share my life and I hope my contributions as a local guide improve and hope that people that view my content can understand and see what I see.
