The Local Guides program, the chance to connect and share <3 -A girl from Taiwan!

Hello everyone~ I am Jenny(惠娟Huijyuan) from Taiwan!

I have become a level 8 local guide last year and I still remember the moment! When I was in a restaurant and as usual I posted some pictures on google maps, suddenly the pop-up notification saying that I became a level 8 local guide! At the moment, I was so exciting. I thought “wow level 8!!! It’ a big achievement!!!”. And at the same time I realized that I really work hard on the Local Guides program and how important it is.

How did I become a Local Guide?

Because I am a Traveller and I really love to explore new place, I rely on Google maps so much. On most weekends, I just open the Google maps and browse the map randomly choosing several 4-star-up places and then ask friends to join me! Following other local guides direction and their recommended places, we can always have fun so much, no matter on the food or the entertainment! I was so Inspired by those senior Local guides, and I decided to join them!

Having fun in the Local Guides program!

In the blink of an eye, I dedicated for the Local Guides program for years. It’s really interesting to post some reviews on Google Maps. I can freely post the pictures, write true comments, provide information of the place, and sharing my feelings, like I am a terrific guide. Also, I often go to explore new place and new food for the Local Guides program! And having so much fun in the exploring journey. Such as the picture below, that was a secret place I found on Google Maps. (大坑登山步道) The scenery is breathtaking!

So proud to be a Google local guide

Once my friend told me excitedly that because of a comment on Google Maps, she found a amazing restaurant near her home but she never knew. "And guess what? That’s your comment!!! So cool!!!"She said. I was so surprised and flattered. Knowing the review helps gave me more motives to share. Being a Local guide I immersed in the travel more. It reminds me the importance of experiencing itself, not just quickly browsing around. Every time I can’t wait to share pros and cons of somewhere or something(especially about food~) to everybody, hoping these comments can make some contribution, helping people find what they want.

The Local Guide program is a free platform to share and connect. I suppose this is a two-way communication. When you share your true feeling to others, they would love to share with you either~~ :slightly_smiling_face:

p.s Find this “Local Guide Connect” forum through Local Guide Connect live 2020 application. There are so many interesting articles! How I wish I could join here earlier~

This is my first post hope you like it. Feel free to share some comments with me.

Hello @Huijyuan You might have wondered what happened to the first post you wrote, as that all of a sudden disappeared, right? Well, actually, it was accidentally caught in our spam filter (which is quite strict out here). I have now released it and merged it with your other post, to avoid that your Connect account would get flagged as spammer.

The result is that the content of your first post is now added as a comment to your second post. If you want, you can remove the content of that comment by clicking the ‘…’ at the bottom of the comment and then simply removing the content there (or replace it with something like “content removed as it was an accidental duplicate”).

@Huijyuan I still remember when I was new here… quite similar :slightly_smiling_face:

One more thing which is quite important here on the forum: if you want to make sure that another Connect user sees a reply you give, make sure to ‘tag’ them by typing the ‘@’ symbol and then select that user from the list (or start typing the name if there is no list).
