Amar Ekushey Book Fair 23 (অমর একুশে বইমেলা ২৩) has started. Compared to the last two years, this book fair is very different. Due to the Corona epidemic, the fair could not be held at the specified time for the last two years. But this time the fair has started at the right time (1st February). The fair will run throughout the month. This year also saw a change in approach and format, with the addition of new publishers and number of stalls.
I went to the fair last Friday (17th February). Really, I had a good time there. So I decided to share some photos of the fair. I captured all photos with Samsung Galaxy A50s.
The Ekushey Book Fair, the life fair of crores of Bengalis, has been celebrated as a great gathering of writers, publishers and readers for ages. The history of this traditional fair of Bengal is as old as independent Bangladesh, which started with the naming of Amar Ekushey Granth Fair. The journey of Amar Ekushey Book Fair was started to keep intact the memory of great language martyrs in the language movement of 1952, which is still being celebrated as Amar Ekushey Book Fair in Suhrawardy Udyan along with Bangla Academy premises.
To facilitate fair management, the stalls of publishers participating in the book fair have been divided into different sections, including publisher area, publisher-seller area, public and private institutions, children’s corner and little magazine.
The book fair became more vibrant with the presence of various government stalls and private service providers along with a new book unveiling stage and author’s corner and media center and information center.
The name of the new book and the identity of the author are constantly being announced from the unveiling stage, and the tireless exchange of views between the author and the reader continues in the author’s corner or author’s corner. A special task force is prepared to prevent violation of copyright or intellectual property laws of books published in book fairs, who are also engaged in protecting the literary and educational environment and information security.

Ekushey Book Fair 23 schedule reveals that the book fair will be open daily from 3 pm to 8 pm. But, Friday and Saturday you can enjoy the book fair from 11 am to 8 pm. And only on February 21, the book fair will be open from 8 am to 9 pm.
Entry to the book fair is open to all and completely free.
Special Note:
Due to the location of the ‘Metro rail station’, the main entrance of the fair has been shifted a little and the gate of ‘Ramana Mandir’ is being used as the main entrance on the opposite side of the main entrance of Bangla Academy.
Not only Dhaka but visitors from different districts are flocking to the fair. They are also buying books for themselves and their relatives. If you have time, you can also come to the book fair. Hope you have a great time.
