The legacy of helping others to find their way around

Things in the past used to be very different from what they are today, everybody knows it. When I used to travel with my parents in the childhood and adolescence, we used to get a map book, many conversations with the peers that did the drive before and lots of planning.
Travelling was an experience of adventure and unplanned trouble too. (Forunately, or not)It cannot be experienced again in the same terms.
I rememeber looking at the map and counting how many towns we would drive around while we made our way.

Sharing one of my most amazing experiences of 2019: Rio do Boi Trekking.

How many people lived in those towns? How many bodegas there were around? How many stories they could tell to us? - I used to imagine all the time while we were driving (and therefore could not sleep properly).
Then things started to slowly evolve… The story is long to be told here, but then it came… The Google Earth.
I was an early adopter of Google Earth among my friends.
How! What an amazing solution, I thoght, the first time I installed it. Now you could see the entire Earth! I never imagined I could experience something so amazing so early in my life.
And later we became more and more connected, but the main objective was always the same: bring more data faster - and make people closer.
The Google Maps became a major issue in my life. The database each time more complete and rich of details.
And more recently… it came the Local Guides opportunity. What does it take to be a Local Guide? Do I meet the requirements?
At that moment I discovered I could share my experiences. Help the others to find the way around, That seemed amazing to me again!
It was an moment of great joy for me. To be able to share my experiences with the others and also listen to what the others had to tell would be one of the dreams of that child who looked curiosly at the map.
The bond that created by the Local Guides, by sharing experiences of people who have never met each other before is trully amazing.
I am having the opportunity to share my point of view to the others, my experience, I can help someone not to suffer from the pains that I might have suffered. How cannot that be amazing?
The Local Guides program mean to me that I can somehow superseed my human limitations. The today’s boy which travels with the family might not only to be able to IMAGINE what the people araound are experiencing, but he is able to read about the others’ experiences and live a piece of it.
In summary, it makes me very happy and proud about my opportunity to help others even though if I am not close at the moment.
Therefore I feel like it helps me think that I am leaving a legacy in the World that might stay even after I am gone, and this is somehow comforting.
I have not been a Local Guide for a long time, this is relatively recent event in my life (still and constanly learning). But the positives impacts that this brought to my life are already notable.
Today, when I visit a place, I already think about the best way to share my experiences to the others. How can I help someone with my words? If I can help at lest one person today, I already got my day!

Greetings from a Local Guide from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil!
