It has been an amazing experience since the beginning of my journey as a local guide. I was invited to join the local guides by a friend. As a matter of fact, the people I relate with often times are those I met since I became a guide and the circle keeps enlarging. Transitioning my city to a new place is stressful but I realized I have something others doesn’t possess, which is guiding and influencing my community through my contributions to the map.
I became enthusiastic about my contributions to the map since I relocated to this place, barely areas in this place are correctly placed on the map and not all the areas can be accessible with the map. After few weeks of my relocation, my adventure began. Walking street to street, reviewing places and adding relevant informations to the map. The most exciting part is that, I now have a group I train on how they can contribute and improve their community through their map contributions and usage.
The maps has been my most trusted companion anytime I’m going to a new place I have visited or never visited before. My mission is to add new places and drop my reviews to the map, so as to help map users.
Few challenges I am facing is subscription issue, sometimes I won’t be buoyant to subscribe and this hinders my activities. Also transport to go places so as to add them to the maps.
Future plans is to get a good job so as to support budding guides who are facing same challenges with me…
If i am invited to Connect live 2020, it will be an opportunity for me to learn from other Guides and i will come back and improve map in my community.
