As Local Guides, we all know the importance of having correct and detailed information in big cities, so every single worker, student, tourist and all kind of people can move, drive or walk safely. And of course even Google concentrate his work in the areas where Google Maps is mostly used.
But sometimes we might forget how important are the small and “forgotten” rural areas, small town or just less populated areas. My grandparents lives in a really small countryside town (less than about 1.400 citizens) with only an elementary school, a post office, a pharmacy, a church, a little train station and a few more shops; with most of the basics services available only by car several kilometers away. And here in Italy a lot of small rural areas are like this.
Every time i go visit them or go to other rural areas, I try my best to add more and more details to every small business activity, parks and attraction, road details/names etc for two main reason. To make life easier for those who live around there, and help business activities to have even just a few more customers and help them.
It could be a really nice idea maybe for the areas that can be reached by train to organize some Local Guides Meeting to really make google maps even complete and useful for everyone even in these areas!
