Do you love trolleys as I do? I go on observing museums of transport. Today we go to the City Electric Transport Museum in St.-Petersburg on Vasilievsky Island.
The museum is located in working tram depot. There are two areas - two rooms with miniatures and historical artifacts (with special attention to the blockage of Leningrad period) and a huge hall full of trams and trolley buses. And you’re allowed to enter most of them!
Can you imagine winter tram line on ice across the river? It worked on the Neva for 15 years (1895-1910). You can see the miniature of the station and a car. I love this story! Seems unbelievable!
The museum does reconstruction work all the time. Most cars can move and they participate in excursions, city celebrations, and movie shooting. Also, they usually organize children’s tours and celebrations.
