The History of Places_1. Bazaar Road, Mattancherry.

Fort Kochi and Mattancherry were one of the most bustling commercial hubs since the era of

Pepper Seekers in 16 c. till the late 20th Century.

As walking alongside with the narrow street, you still can find a number of pepper, tea traders as well as

various religious places from the Catholic churches, mosques, Hindus’ to Parsis’ and even jews church.

With this multi-layered cultural history, this places is currently being used for artistic creativity.

Every 2 years, Kochi-Muziris Biennale adopts several places here(this year, the old Anand warehouse and

the abandoned pepper storage built by Dutch were converted to the gallery) for site-specific artworks

by the artists from all over the world. http://kochimuzirisbiennale.org/venues/
