The harbor birthday which is called in German: ,Hafengeburtstag" takes place on the streets in front of the big harbor in Hamburg every year in May. The harbor birthday is a big event. The city builds a lot of food booths and many gaming booths there. There is also a ferris wheel, a whirligig and a high ride for courageous persons. There are also some music stages with free live music. Many big different ships and cruise ships come to visit the harbor.
The city Hamburg can be called: ,The gate to the world", in German: ,Das Tor zur Welt", because all the ships can come from all over the world to the big harbor. The harbor is located by the river: ,Elbe". The Elbe flows to the north sea. From the North Sea we can travel by ship to all the other continents.
The 830. harbor birthday 2019:
The city celebrated the 830. harbor birthday last weekend. It took place this year from the 10th of May to the 12th of May 2019.
I visited the harbor birthday on Saturday again. The lights of the different booths shone brightly. Another cruise ship, the: ,AIDA Perla" visited the harbor. This ship was illuminated very beautiful with different colors at the evening. Than they lit a very wonderful firework at 22:30 pm. It was really beautiful to see the colorfully illuminated AIDA Perla and the firework. After the fireworks were over, all the people wanted to go home. So many people were on their way to the subway station. Police officers had to pay attention for order on the stairway to the subway station. The food booths were flooded with crowds.
I am impressed that there is a such huge event. It would be also awesome if you add more photos from the other ships. I am curious also how many people attended this event? I think that the foreigners was impressed with it!
Hey @ChiaraMariaC what a colourful recap you shared. I really love it. Specially the picture in which lots of food stalls. It’s just like a food street in Karachi Called Port Grand.
Wau, 1.1 million visitors sounds awesome for this event! The foreigners were probably very happy to see that event. The photos that you posted are really very nice and thanks for them a lot!
