Saint Virgin Mary’s Coptic Orthodox Church, also known as The Hanging Church, is one of the oldest & beautiful churches in Egypt
but it is not only old or beautiful , it is also so special because it was built on two ancient towers of the Roman fortress
so , called the Hanging Church
as i know it i was built on the third century
The church was built on the ruins of a place where the holy family (the Virgin Mary, Christ the Child, and Saint Joseph the Carpenter) were taken care of during the three years they spent in Egypt to escape Herod [?] The ruler of Palestine who had ordered the killing of children for fear of prophecy and his apostasy.
the church located in cairo coptic area and close to it many coptic church & Amr Bin Al As Mosque ( the oldest mosque in Africa )
