*** The Great Indian Heritage Photo Walk - II. ***
This Heritage Place Photo Walk in Kolkata WBLG meetup was organised by West Bengal Local Guides.
It was my first time attending a Google Local Guides Meet-up. There were 14 attendees; learnt quite a many new things, interacting with them. Inspite of their busy work schedules, they are really very enthusiastic to add new photos, ratings and reviews of places and contribute to Google Maps, which makes it convenient and easy for people visiting from other areas.
We started by exploring the Indian Museum. It is the largest and oldest museums in India and has rare collection of anriques, armours, ornaments, fossils, skeletons, mummies and Mughal Paintings. It was great to observe the various artefacts and knowing about them. We spent around 3 hours here. Then after having a light lunch at the Dominos, Park Street, we started walking to the South Park Street Cemetery. The tombs here are Gothic with Indo-Saracenic style. The tombs are built in a ‘Panchyatana’ manner, with a central dome flanked by miniature replicas of Orissan ‘rekha deul’ on four sides. With these our walk ended successfully.
Special thanks to @SDatta, the host of this event and also thanks to @ReshamDas and @DrShaunak , the very eminent and prime members of the West Bengal Local Guides Community.
