The Devine Land - Harminder Sahib aka The Golden Temple
It was a family trip. We started our journey from Chandigarh to Amritsar around 6 'o clock in the morning in August via car. While going to the Amritsar, I saw this truck and thought to click a picture to show how truck sometimes acts as a means of public transport.
And we reached there around between 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm because before the visit to Golden temple, we went to some other places in Amritsar the same day. On reaching there, we were mesmerized by the view.
We all kept our shoes in a storeroom known as 'Joda Ghar '. We all washed our feet in the holy water. It was so cold. As we entered we saw a huge white palace thing all around. Never seen this before. Then we saw the Golden temple and we all just got stop for a moment. The view I can’t express in words. It was that beautiful. It was all white marbles around.
We saw orange fishes there. Yup! they are colorful. Where? In the holy water - The Sarovar present outside the Golden temple.
When we were started walking towards the temple we saw some volunteers there who are serving sugar water (mitha pani) for the visitor to quench their thirst. They offer you water dishes and clean the used utensils. Again there was a water stall in another corner of the Darbar Sahib and they again gave something which I don’t know what it was but it was too awesome. You can too volunteer and do seva there. We ate the Prashad ( gud aata) . Seriously! I may sound quirky, but it was just wow! and tasty! The taste was so damn! good. After walking around, we decided to visit the temple inside. We all made a queue and yes! there were so many people around but still no noise, no rush! only the holy chant you can hear. We prayed and came out with so much love, kindness and I felt a spiritual awakening… I am out of words to explain what were my thoughts and feelings were. It was spiritual and at the same time mesmerized. I was awestruck!
We roam around the temple for an hour and sat there peacefully and quietly up to the evening. When the sun set and the moon rise, you will express another level of beauty. The lights just pop up and the beauty rose to the top. Oh my God! What a scene it was. During the night, the holy Darbar Sahib looks stunning and more beautiful.
The Palki ceremony happens twice a day. The Granth will be placed on the palanquin and will be taken to its place. You can either watch this ceremony in the morning at 4:30 am or in the night at 9:30 pm. The temple then closes at 10 pm and the devotees are no longer allowed to enter. There was a crowd but yet peace all around. The quietest place I have ever been visited. The peace and serenity this place offers is quite heartwarming and believe me, You will never forget the experience once you visit and the lively and peace moment will call you again and again.
