When I started to be a local guide, my main goal was to add or correct details about places like businesses or museums. Checking opening times, website urls or phone numbers, was mainly my activity. Then I started to add pictures but without much effort in the making.
Once I realised that people were actually looking at my photos, and that I could influence their decisions or make their life easier, it became to me like an interesting game. Taking a good picture, maybe giving it a bit more glamour with Snapseed, and then posting it to google maps, started to be something that I “have” to do, either posting while travelling, or once back home, reviewing my pictures and adding them in the right place.
I find it a relaxing activity, and a useful one too. And imagining people having a look at my shots and saying “oh, I wanna go there”, is the best reward!
