I don’t know if now it’s been officially made public this new update. I just found out today that now I can and I had to accept the terms and conditions. I’m very excited.

@mariorosas The feature is made available to few regions/countries/city. The actual demographics are not listed by Google, but YES, you can now follow other Local Guides and they can follow back your Maps profile. As per my knowledge (not official from Google, but by learning from fellow LGs) this feature is/has being/been rolled out to North America, Europe and select cities in ASEAN region.
Here’s an announcement that @TiffanyBnyc made few months back, that highlighted the new look and feel of Maps profile.
you can now set your profile bio on your public facing Maps profile, which is so cool. The new terms and conditions also talked about this features and the information availability on your public page, that’s why needed an acknowledgement from your side.
Here’s a link from Google Support page which tells you how to update your profile.
For the rest of the world mostly, mostly they can now see the new profile style with the following option (but currently unable to follow anyone and getting followers at this stage)
