Years ago the labor of finding a good place to eat was an impossible mission. I live in a country where is very hard to found online information about any topics so, spotting unknown and unusual places becomes a heavily cumbersome work.
I began to use Google Maps for common things like searching an address, checking if a site was open, and mainly looking for places with the most quiet atmosphere to enjoy delicious food; but most of the results had one thing in common: some crucial information about the place (like pictures showing the environment, or a high quality photo about the food they sell) were missing. So, I decided to go from being a consumer of a tool to someone who adds that valuable data; and as it, I started with little contributions:
Like writing a review for a Chinese restaurant that only accept cash,
rating the hot drink of my favorite cafe,
or just share a picture of my favorite ice cream flavor.
Surprisingly what started as a concern of missing information became a passion that produced a hundred of thousands of views, and a fervor about what I like to the most of Google Maps:
it lets me chase, fill, discover and share the information
about the traces of the main source of energy pursued by all living beings: food.
I like to share pictures of food because food has an almost infinite range of colors,
these colors that can be mixed and harmonized each other, it becomes an attempt of the chef to be perfect, unforgettable… and above all, the food allows us to taste the flavor of his attempt to become indelible. If we put this together with the photograph, we get even closer to perfection: we capture a moment to make it immortal.
