Back in 2016, I had been playing with Google Maps without really knowing what was Google Local Guides. I’ve uploaded a couple of pictures when I was at some cool places but nothing more. It wasn’t even relevent for other poeple… I actualy though it was kind of an extension of Google + (RIP). I was uploading pictures of my friends and I at some restaurants…
Then, a few months later I took this picture at a local bakery close to my work. Few days later, Google Maps asked me if I wanted to post it to Google Local Guides. I said to myself : sure… it’s just a picture to show off to my girlfirend how lucky I was to have this bakery right next to my work place.
After a few weeks, I started to get notifications from Google saying that my picture help 1000 poeple this week. I was amazed how this picture was able to help and give a hint of what poeple could find at that place.
To this day, this picture is my most popular with more than 280 000 views.
I really like helping other people find what they need when looking at something in google maps because it’s give and take. I take advantage of what everybody upload and they do the same with the info I upload. Ilove the community behind it!
