Ice block is the most needed in fish trading. From fishermen to the trader in fish market all need ice block.
Palembang fish cultivate from Musi river.
Alwi Assegaff is the first ice block in Palembang.
The manufacturer took place in the Musi river bank.
And ithe Ice block distribution is through boat along Musi river.
So the ice block can slide directly from the manufacturer to the boat through a wooden line.
Because of the manufacture height is higher than the boat position so the ic block can slide smoothly, so look like it has a conveyor belt.
More than decade the ice block manufacturer operate until this moment.

I have always loved visiting an ice factory.
First as a child during the school days and later as part of the refrigeration plant study project becoming a Mechanical Engineer.
In India,
The climate is hot and dry in the sandy deserts of Rajasthan.
The climate is hot and humid in the southern state of Kerala where there is plenty of rainfall and also rain forests, just like Indonesia.
The climate is cold and dry in the high altitudes of Ladakh.
But the climate is ‘cold and humid’ only in an ice factory.
That is what I remember about an ice factory 
The double-sloped roof of the ice factory in Palembang indicates it is a very old structure.

You are right how old the factory can be seen from the building and the roof.
