The Fascinating Clock Tower of Spicer University in Pune

A fact that I find the most fascinating about a clock tower or a large mechanical clock installed on a public building is that they have stood the test of time, no pun intended

These clocks along with the towers or buildings that host them have stood there out in the open, bearing the brunt of nature. Be it rains or sunshine, the cold weather or lightning, and occasional thunderstorms they continued telling the time of the day selflessly when it was most needed. This is from the times when personal wrist watches have not become common.

One such clock is installed in the main administrative building of the Spicer Adventist University in Pune, For several decades it was popularly known as Spicer college but the clock tower has always been a part of the building.

In 2015 the college completed 100 years and several generations of students have passed out. What has remained constant is the majestic clock in the central segment of the administrative building. I could see the clock from far off outside the main entrance.

I stood there for some time gazing at the clock today afternoon. Mesmerized with its beauty time stood still for me though the clock continued to tick as it has been for more than a century. After appreciating its and perseverance and beauty for a brief period, I bid the clock goodbye and continued walking on the sidewalks outside Spicer University.

Have you seen a clock tower recently in your neighborhood or during travel to a distant place?
What was your first impression?
I’d like to hear or see a photo in the comments or a new post.

Hello @TusharSuradkar

We have one somewhere here in Lagos, I just haven’t the time yet to get a shot of it. It’s in the heart of the city, and it’s long travel to get there. It’s not a tall.hig tower but the clock is there in the city of Lagos

I’ll get it someday, meanwhile thanks for the post. Your photos are always good.

Cheers
