But for the inland water transport system, businesses in Apapa, Lagos Nigeria would have been grounded due to the protracted traffic gridlock which up till now has defy solution. The booming maritime transport has lessen the burden of business owners and their customers in the area which is the commercial nerve of Nigeria. Apapa is the home of the two major sea ports in Nigeria I:e Warf and TINCAN ports which are responsible for about 80% of Nigeria import and export businesses. Articulated vehicles are all over Apapa roads making entry and exit very difficult.
However, Inland Transportation system has increase ease of accessing Apapa. owning and running either ferry or speedboat has become a cash cow in the Apapa axis of Lagos state, Nigeria
@Longfem thank you for sharing this post on Connect, the traffic in Lagos can be discouraging and that of Apapa is truly unbearable. It is reliving to have water transportation as an alternative on that route. Can you share photos of the boats, ferries, jetties and landmarks along this route. It will be of interest to Local Guides.
Also, tell us how you are helping people find the jetties. Have you reviewed the location? How much does it cost to get to the Island and what other routes do the ply?

@EmekaUlor will get pictures by weekend when I go through that route. Yes I have reviewed some of the jetties. The price depends on which routes and ferry companies you are patronising. For example, Apapa to Marina (From Flour Mill) is N100 if you go with bigger ferry while it cost N150 with sea coast (Modern and faster) ferry, from Flour Mill Apapa to Ikorodu it cost between N1000 and N1500. From Marina you can get speed boat to Takwabay, Epe e.t.c while Liverpool, Apapa jetty you can get boats to Iyana oba, iyana isashi @ N500, agbara N900 and Badagry @@ N1200@
Attn @EmekaUlor I think the pictures are helpful
Fantastic. Now we have a clear image of the whole process. It seems more bigger boats and ferries are required. More people should also leave the roads to patronize the waters. What fo you think?
Yes, it is natural that people will automatically patronise whatever give them more comfort, companies and parastatals in Apapa are already utilizing inland water Transportation system to transport their staffers. FMN now gives her staffs free sea ride from Apapa to CMS
