The Eagles have Landed

Every year the wintering bald eagles (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) land just steps from my home. A sacred, ancient, majestic and always awe inspiring creature that each autumn flies directly overhead, and perches itself high on the tree tops, watching over the landscape. They sit and watch and wait to feast on the spawning salmon.

I walk among these birds of prey respecting their time and space, as they habitually share my community.

Being a Google Local Guide, I am able to share this magical time each year with photos. My favorite time of year to practice moving meditation through the trees, through the sandy trails and along the river bank. The eagles are a highlight, but sharing the stage are herons, many species of ducks, the elusive elk, coyotes and a few black bears too (don’t have the pictures to show, whew, but could take some ‘droppings’ photos :slightly_smiling_face:
