“Suji ka Halwa” is an ancient popular dessert. Many prominent historians believe that the dessert recipe was originated during the Ottoman empire. The word halwa is taken from the Arabic word ‘Hulw’, which refers to sweet. The word Suji refers to “Rava” a form of semolina which is used heavily in the Indian cuisine.
Heat a flat pan on low flame and add few tablespoons of butter to it. Now add semolina/suji to the same flat pan and cook till the color turns to golden brown.
In a separate pan add white sugar along water and make it into a deep boil. Also, add the cardamom powder and Saffron to the mixture.
Now slowly transfer the heated boil water into fried semolina and stir the mixture appropriately to avoid any formation of lumps.
Continue the stir till all the water fades and cut off the flame and garnish it with the chopped dry fruits and few saffron threads.
Thanks for sharing your photos. That’s an interesting dessert which I haven’t tasted yet. Do you make it at home? Is this the best way to serve it on a plate? Can it be served in a bowl, for example?
Thanks for the comment @MoniDi The dessert was made by my wife at home. The dessert can be served in anyway, either in a dessert plate or a bowl. We usually prefer eating this dessert in a small dessert plate.
This dessert is quite popular in the Indian subcontinent countries and is usually referred by different names based on the regions. Thanks for the comment @MAHBUB_HYDER
