What I love most to share in google maps are the photos, videos and experience of the customs and parties of the places I visit and especially where I live. Recently it was the Huaracino carnival party that I would like to share with you.
The traditional Huaracino carnival party is the funniest and craziest of the year, It’s in February. A beautiful and colorful parade shows the typical dresses of all the Huaylas alley. Each neighborhood comes dancing to the rhythm of the Huaynos, typical music of my land, with funny choreographies and songs. Even the torrential rain that corresponds to this month of the year, is not an impediment to sing and jump for joy at the beginning of the carnival. This tradition comes from 1920 until our time where adults and children go out to the streets to play throwing water balloons and painting
It is a party to share with the family, choreographies are created to win the contest of decorated cars. The neighbors choose a young queen and a little girl queen to walk along the main avenue in the decorated car. Also the best “concubine” (men dressed as women) of the king of the carnival the “Ño carnavalón” is chosen. The best way to make fun of the corrupt authorities and controversial characters of the TV, is making funny masks for the carnival parade. Encouraged by the laughter of the audience, the concubines and costumed characters make funny scenes in front of the juries telling jokes in Quechua, the typical language of my land.
In addition, you can’t miss the traditional gift tree called Huachihualito. To the beat of the tradicional music, the people dance around the tree adorned with toys, fruits and utensils, taking turns to hit him with the ax praying for not breaking the tree. If someone make this fall, he or she has to organize all the party next year and its very expensive. This is the way we celebrate and appreciate what the earth and the rain provide us.
The best rain of stars that you’ll see, will be dancing Huayno under the castle of fireworks, all holding hands singing and dancing, create a fellowship. Those who were fighting are forgiven and those who love show it to everyone and share the family love.
Tuesday has arrived, for the penultimate day of carnival the city prepares for war. Own and strangers take to the streets with water pails, paint and flour in their hands to attack the people of the enemy neighborhood.
Children, youth and adults join to “kill” the enemy and the “carnival” with paint on their hair and water on all their clothes. Once the war has begun, there is no one to be saved. Everyone who dares to pass through the main streets of the city must be bathed in dirty water and unwashable paint. Until the last consequences, one by one they retreat to their neighborhoods and prepare the funeral of the carnival king “Ño carnavalon” who has just died in the war of painting.
