I have been to 47 countries since 2014, but one of the most special things I’ve done is the 6 day, 5 night hut-to-hut Overland Track hike in Tasmania, Australia, from 9-14 February 2020. https://parks.tas.gov.au/explore-our-parks/cradle-mountain/overland-track claims this is a 65km hike, but I also climbed Mount Ossa (the tallest peak in Tasmania) and did a few side trips, so I think I covered 80-85km. Cellular service is very limited as you traverse through the national parks, so there is not much opportunity to makes posts as a Google Local Guide. But I did capture 49 videos (all 4K resolution) on my Google Pixel 4 XL, and they can be found on my YouTube channel (see https://www.youtube.com/user/BenSlivka/search?query=%22TWC+OT+DAY%22). We encountered local wild life – a poisonous tiger snake, an echidna, a wombat, and many wallabys – and enjoyed great weather (only one short rainfall at the end of Day 4). While I’ve hiked and cycled around the world (Patagonia, China, India, Burma, Bhutan, South Africa, Vietnam, and more), this was the most physically challenging experience I’ve ever had.
