The Chinatown of Milan

The Chinatown of Milan is really small compared to the big ones famous in the world. It still features many typical Chinese restaurants, shops, bars and everything you need to feel like in China in an Italian city. This is the hearth of Milan Chinatown: Via Paolo Sarpi. Even if not officially considered as Chinatowns, also the areas of Loreto and Maciachini-Dergano are well known for featuring various typical Chinese restaurants in Milan, while the whole Italian city is famous for featuring a strong Chinese community.

Hi @user_not_found !

I didn’t know that there is also a Chinatown in Milan!

I hope it grows more and more as I find them very characteristic!

Bye and have a great day!

David

@davidhyno despite being small it has everything and well, Milan Chinese community is also well developed. It is just less touristic as, differently from big Chinatowns like San Francisco’s, it has no big adverts or other things made in order to capture attention of people. Typical restaurants are literally crowded with Chinese people and some locals don’t even know the existence of these (except for those who became famous for some reasons). In fact one of the first “missions” of mine as a Local Guide was trying all the restaurants of Chinatown and reviewing them with my Chinese friends. Now you can find good details on Google Maps about even the most characteristics restaurants.

As said this is the official Chinatown, but also Loreto & Dergano-Maciachini areas can be considered as “micro-Chinatowns” as they feature some Chinese markets and some restaurants too!

Before visiting these restaurants, they had no presence on Google Maps or a presence with very few photos. These are the typical restaurants where you can find 99% customers of Chinese nationality (and not all of them are used to review places in Google Maps).

Have a good day!

Thanks for this detailed explanation Alessio!

Bye

David

@user_not_found looking forward for few photos of Chinese restaurants in Milan Chinatown

@nshantin photos of typical Chinese dishes I post sometimes come from these restaurants!

Thanks @user_not_found for sharing with us. There are China Towns everywhere in the world, I think. There is one in Sai Gon, Vietnam, which attracts lots of tourists, especially the Chinese.
