Let me share my latest Google Local Guide experience in my own town. In February I witnessed the launching of a new commercial establishment. This is a video I posted about it in my Facebook. Launching
San Mateo, Rizal is bustling, growing town. The establishment of a major mall in town, the SM City, saw an unprecedented growth in business. The major thoroughfare became unrecognizable in a span of one year. Old trees along the national road gave way to road widening efforts of the municipality, and new businesses sprang everywhere. However, with the constant development, it is also unpredictable whether newly-established local businesses will be sustainable. I have made updates on Google map, placing my friend’s newly constructed commercial building and the stores inside it. Lo and behold, in a span of two months, the inevitable happened, and the establishment quickly gave way to another business. The resto bar that my friend launched in February had to close down due to abrupt changes in customer traffic. The municipality enforced the use of a foot bridge, hence diminishing foot traffic to the resto bar. My friend quickly made a decision and accepted a new tenant. Now there is an e-bike dealership in the same location where the resto bar had been. This goes to show how important it is for Google Local Guides to keep checking for changes in the locality, to ensure the accuracy of information in the local Google map. Here is the face of the same commercial establishment after Easter Sunday, when the new tenant moved in. Now I have some updating to do!
