Today, May 31th, 2025 Surabaya City is celebrating their 732nd birthday, celebrated with a grand reception at Taman Surya, Balaikota Surabaya. This vibrant city, continues to grow in significance as the heart of East Java. Surabaya is famously known as the “City of Heroes” due to its pivotal role in the nation’s fight for freedom, and today it stands as a hub of commerce, education, and culture. The celebration was filled with pride and unity as the city government, honored by the Mayor’s speech, highlighted the tremendous progress Surabaya has made over the years.
In his address, Mr. Eri emphasized that this success belongs to the people of Surabaya, recognizing their spirit and resilience as the true driving force behind the city’s development. It was moving to hear him repeatedly acknowledge how Surabaya’s growth is a reflection of its community’s dedication and hard work. The reception brought together diverse groups representing different sectors of the city, from educators and entrepreneurs to artists and community leaders. I feel truly blessed and honored to be among those invited to celebrate this milestone. Being part of this special day deepened my appreciation for Surabaya’s legacy and the vibrant, united spirit that continues to move it forward.
