The Camera Exchange Kolkata

A few days ago, I visited the New Market Area in Dharmatala, a hub of thousands of shops of different varieties and categories. My friends who have a camera always told me that for any support, or repair work they always visit the big stores and mostly shopping malls.

The problem with those shops is, they charge a very high amount even for a small thing. On the other side, I found this shop named The Camera Exchange which is situated at Grand Hotel Arcade, 17-2A, Jawaharlal Nehru Rd, New Market Area, Dharmatala, Taltala, Kolkata 700013.

I was there in the area for half an hour but I have seen no customers visiting this store, I went inside and talked to the person and got to know that here the prices are so reasonable, probably their quality of work will be not of that level as their income is not so much.

When I was returning from the area, I saw this shop had been closed and this was the only shop that was to be closed at that time.

People want affordable prices and this shop provides it but the purpose is not getting fulfilled. Let’s support local businesses in Kolkata. I have heard that once this shop was marvelous but lost its charm now, so let’s make this shop great again.

Thanks for your kind words @Ssiddharth2000

Excellent post and photos @Shaunak
I too always prefer smaller shops for small repairs and purchases.

I had a digital camera 10 years back which broke.
Wandering through the markets in Pune I found a camera repair shop that was set up under a staircase.
Only the owner could barely fit inside the shop.
But he had an expert hand.
He repaired the camera within reasonable expenses.
I was very happy with his services.

Last week again I walked down the same street only to find that little shop had closed
