Guys, in all my teenage life and young adult life in Nigeria, I’ve never heard of any bookstore with a bar- I mean a bar literally, with myriads of wines to choose from while reading and relaxing.
This bookstore is called the Lit Bar Bookstore, and it’s located in the heart of South Bronx, New York fondly called “SoBRO”.
Realistically speaking, this is more like an epiphany for me considering my background, but when I engaged with one of the associates on the idea behind wine & book, she said the whole idea is to encourage the culture of reading hardcopy books again; secondly to create this aura of relaxation in the bookstore with soft tunes playing in the background that will in turn exude this soothing and calming effect on people when they walk into the store.
The beauty of this bookstore is even if you’ve not made a buying decision yet which book you want, you’ll still be allowed to relax and read any book of your choosing with a free WiFi required you make a purchase at the bar. You can also request for soda, coffee, bottle water or candies if you’re not a fan of wine.
Sometimes I smiled subconsciously knowing that the beauty and wonder of being a local guide is the consciousness in all of us to share our experiences and then these experiences subliminally help millions of people around the world that we’ve never had the opportunity to meet.
Attached are some photos I took at the Lit Bar Bookstore. ?
Hi @U-royFelixA , the bookstore seems really enjoyable to spend our leisure time. When I was kid, visiting a bookstore was my favorite thing to do in the weekend. Even I could spend hours at the bookstore! I love your story, thanks for sharing
Wow! I have a love for bookstores and will definitely be putting this one on my list to visit next time I’m in NYC, @U-royFelixA . I have a feeling I’ll love the vibe here, just from the pics you shared. Did you purchase any books? If so, which?
Thank you immensely @anu7spice Please let me know when you’re in town so I can show around. Yes, I did purchase a book titled “Transformed” written by a Nigerian-American. His name is Remi Adeleke, a retired Navy SEAL. It’s a book I believe you’ll love to read.
I also bought a Children’s book for my neighbor’s daughter who just turned 5. The book is titled “Be My Neighbor” by Ser Vecinos. It basically teaches kids diversity and how to live in a community with others.
