Those of us on the northern hemisphere are suffering through a really cold and bitter Winter this time around. Riding a train in the middle of a blizzard is fascinating and scary at the same time. I love the power of a Diesel engine as it plows through snow and tundra.
The second photo is a frozen lake in Iwate Prefecture. Motsuji Temple. In Summer this lake absolutely beautiful, and in Winter is eerily beautiful and dream-like. Ice everywhere.
I the 3rd photo is a plow driving through the streets of Hokkaido making sure the streets stay safe to drive on. Pedestrians waiting for buses that come every hour on the hour and in bitter cold.
The lone Japanese mom walking through a winter wonderland in Yamagata is interesting, like she does this everyday. She disappears in the offing and I have no idea where she’s going.
In Niigata, the elderly toil every morning on their rooftops removing tons of snow, while young people remain in the big cities tucked away next to a heating element. Someone is either rushed to emergency or dies from falling off a roof every Winter here. Winters are long and brutal here.
These are very interesting scenarios of the challenging wintertime @user_not_found
The open ground indeed looks scary and slippery but salute to the perseverance of the old lady who uses her experience and grit to walk over to her destination anways.
Hi @Sophia_Cambodia so good to hear from you. Thank you for your kind words. Winter is my favorite season here. @Navid_Ebdaei also would probably like these photo, and perhaps @Annclass61 What is Winter like in Cambodia?
You are welcome @user_not_found Well, we don’t really have winter but I may compare the temperature of winter in Cambodia to Spring (colder temperature with breeze). It is in December - January, with temperature about 22-25.
Hi Dear @user_not_found
Thank you for tagging me , I love winter and snow as well as all other lovely seasons and things indeed
To me the best photo in this story is “Japanese mom walking through a winter wonderland in Yamagata” , it really makes me to imagine the ultimate beauty of the area
Hello @Navid_Ebdaei the place where I took this photo is called Zao Onsen in Yamagata, Prefecture, a place famous for heavy snowfall. Lots of Japanese visit this town for the great #nihonshu#premium beef, and great natural #hotsprings. @Sophia_Cambodia has some really good photos of her travels, too. I also recommend reading @TusharSuradkar interesting posts, as well. I’d like to know how your are enjoying Winter this year @Navid_Ebdaei There’s another LG who won a** photo challenge** awhile back @mockata2
