Hi all ![]()
I am passionate about traveling, nature, photography, meeting new people and learning about their culture, history food, drinks and of course what is the thing that motivates them the most. I always enjoy connecting with the locals, discovering the least walked roads and feel the heartbeat of the place i am at. And what makes me really happy is to share all of this with you and the rest of the world.
This is the story in pictures about the one of the biggest National parties of the Netherlands, in particular experienced in Amsterdam - The Kings Day on the Canals. King’s Day (formerly Queen’s Day) festivities invite locals and all the visitors to soak up Amsterdam’s open-air joyous atmosphere. In the streets, canals, parks and everywhere in between, the city is bursting with orange as Amsterdammers enjoy the biggest street party of the year.
We just have celebrated the Kings day last Saturday, so all the photo’s are really fresh ![]()
This was my second year organizing a really cool boat party on the canals of Amsterdam for a group of expats, as a consul for InterNations Amsterdam Boating group. This time we had another Captain and another boat! The weather didn’t look promising at departure but that didn’t really matter to us
We joined our Captain in his OLD Dutch beauty -classic taw boat from 1923. This boat does not have any seats, it is STANDING only. The captain had no choice but to take us out on a long ride on the IJ, which just made the trip more exciting, since the wind was strong and we were sailing in more open water. Finally we have succeeded to get straight and true into the canal where the party was going on…the rest of the story you can see though my phone camera…hope you can join me with this Kings Day boat madness some day too…
