If you are from Winston-Salem or have ever travelled here, then you probably know that we have had a huge increase in new restaurants. There are many that are good and some that are eh… not so good. I hate to speak negatively about anything but in this case I will just give you the great ones that have been here for awhile. Later we will touch base on the new ones.

Cloverdale Kitchen- this restaurant has been in business for 50yrs and have have earned 5 stars from me. The food is great and the service is wonderful. Now after reading some of the reviews that were not so good I realized that those were over 2 yrs old. So hopefully you will give this quaint restaurant a try. They have 99 cent kids meals on Wednesday’s. That is a great price.

Midtown Dessertery- another 5 star restaurant for me. The breakfast menu has different ideas that I had never heard of but the taste was out of this world. The big buckaroo is one of those. The service is awesome and the manager is very accommodating. If you want something cooked differently or just omitted out of the recipe they are happy to help.
-
Sweet Potatoes- yes yes yes! This is all about sweet potatoes and boy are they good. I believe every recipe includes a sp and some of the food is so good my mouth waters just thinking about it. The sweet potato fries are so good and just a hint of sweetness they are all you will want to eat… I promise. 5 big beautiful stars for this restaurant as well.

Arigato- Japanese at its best. I love the food and the sauces. The chefs do a great job of entertaining you while you are waiting to eat as well as feed you as they go. The rice is perfect right along with the veggies. You have to try the filet and shrimp. Or even the scallops. Now this is what I want for dinner… The service though can be rather quick with you in the beginning especially if they are busy. Just understand it’s probably just them having a weird day. Try not to read too much into it. The food will make up for it.
So those are 4 of my favorites here in WS. Stay tuned for some of those that you might want to stay away from as well as some more new restaurants that I have come to love such as UMI.
