Greetings to everyone. I hope everyone is safe in this pandemic. This is my second ever post here at Local Guides Connect. And I’m glad to write it.
This is about the Challenge that has been done in Bangladesh. #BangladeshChallenge is a challenge to guide our government to help people who they can’t reach.
Not only our government but also hundreds of other governments are trying to help their people in this pandemic. But this not just a normal work as we wanna do it and it’s done in 3 days. This is a huge challenge. There are 3 stages of people living in our country.
- Rich
- Middle class
- Poor
In case of helping all those people, the government has to acknowledge some ways to reach out to them. And this ain’t kids play.
Rich people would eventually buy their needs as they have money. Poor will come forward to the gov.t employee’s who are distributing food for them. But this challenge is mostly for the middle-class families who will die empty stomach but won’t beg for food to anyone. And reaching out to all those people is not an easy task even for the government. So they have thought and brought up this Challenge to reach out to them with us the fellow local guides. But this is not only for local guides! Everyone who isn’t even a local guide can join this program.

Guiding can be done even staying home being the moto, Bangladesh is going through a program called BangladeshChallenge.
#1 Adding place in Google Maps:
The best way to reach out to help people, they have created a section where everyone who is registered in this program. Everyone can add places to this section to be added in Google Maps.
We Local Guides will eventually add the places in Google Maps. Place added by none local guide will be added by the authority Core Team. Everything from a grocery shop, Barbers shop, Pharmacies, Recharge point, B-Kash point, Mosques, Temples or prying places, School, College and Universities, Hospitals and Market or Mart. If these don’t match your criteria then there’s a last option, Others (Must include Category with place name).
#2 Adding place in Open Street Maps:
The second option of adding place is on Open Street Maps. I haven’t added any places in open street maps yet. So I can’t say anything about how to in this section.
#3 Adding place in this platform:
This means those who don’t know how to add places in Google Maps Or Open Street maps can also help by adding places in this platform. After they have added places, the team will add those places in Google maps or in Open street maps.
#4 Join, Ask, Suggest, Get virtual training:
Doing all this is somewhat easy for Local guides but not for none local guides. So they have created a Social group for everyone to join, ask any question they have in their mind, suggest something helpful, or to get a virtual training from professionals to learn to keep up with the challenge.
#5 Know the updated Coronavirus situation:
This section leads to a website where the latest coronavirus info is shown. If one wants to know about this pandemic they can by going to this page.
#6 Organizers:
This Program Is organized by: Grameenphone, PRENURE LAB, YOUTH HUB, Bangladesh Scouts, PTD, a2i, Cabinet Division, ICT Division, and UNDP.
#7 Partners:
This program is Partnered by: GDG Dhaka, Crowdsource by Google Bangladesh Community, Local Guides Bangla, Women Techmakers, GBG Dhaka, Safety in Bangabandhu’s Hand, and Openstreetmap Bangladesh Foundation.
And at last!
I think this is a great initiative taken by the government.
