The beginnings

Hello Everyone!

I just thought would be a great idea - even to the upcoming localguidesconf. - to share how your - being a local guide - story started.

  • What whas the trigger?
  • When have you decided to be a local guide?
  • Do you get feedback that what you do that helps?
  • How different nations reacts in differents situations?

Here is mine:

When we have entered to this modern Era when the internet became public, and made possible to share ideas, know-hows and experiences with lightspeed - than started to wlak-around this thing into my mind that how great is it to publicate your experience and everyone can be noticed inmediately about your likes or dislikes etc. I mean in the 90’s it was just a thought. A few deaceds later all this social media and user firendly applications brought these really to your palm. Just left your handy turned on and visit a museum or a restaurant and questions come automatically to provide feedbacks. Thats is good. So a story upon a robotic landmover just created itself. I bought one from a local co. Since it was new to me I asked them to install it. There was a misunderstanding during the discussion and the enterpreneur told me “fck off, I will not do that” By the time i could question what just happened he just dropped the call and the left me behind with my robot and uninstalled. This was embarassing in spite of the fact they advert themself on the net " best of the best user friendly service" etc. So - bullshit. I have just commented in the Google. Later on i saw that many comments followed. hehe. I was right. Than as my phone gps etc been left turned on…questions came automatically and I have just answered. Than level-up etc. and here I am. I decided to share my good and bad experiences based on facts with rankings (I do recommend or I do not, 3 starts etc.) I think - and I see there is a positive feedback. Hope I could help already.

Hello,

Thanks for starting this post. For me, taking photos or snaps of places I have been to has been my trigger. Not all photos I take will end up on Instagram or can be used for my poetry, so being able to have them available for viewing by others planning on going to that restaurant or hotel (or just sharing a nice spot or an activity) has been what has kept me hooked.

I never really thought much about my contributions until I saw I was rising level by level. I am now exploring Local Guides Connect and I think I have found my next addiction!
Have a nice day everyone.

…totally with you…its kind a magic when you see that step up level by level and get -lets say - honoured.

Taking pics is a next level to me…it can be sensitive…writing is just easier – for now.
