Cham towers, what is it ? And what’s purposes ? First, as the name suggest, it was built by the Chams peoples from the South-Central Coastal region of Vietnam. This region used to belong to a culture and a kingdom that was once in their existence strong and mighty. They have defeated many neighbouring civilization. They even go as far as sacking the great Khmer Empire of Cambodia (though the act was purely for the ceremonial purposes).
The Chams are very famous for their art, especially their localized Hindu structure know as Bimong Cham (Chams Temples, towers). These towers can be found throughout the Central part of Vietnam. And it was built for the worshipping of many varieties of kings and gods (Shiva, Brahma, Durga, or even local kings like Po Rome, Po Klong Garai). Many of them still standing on the land that once used to belong to the Chams. Till this day, no one know the secret of the longevity of the Chams towers.
