Happy to report my triangles are disappearing
I posted this pic & possibly hijacked @Trail_blazer deleting of 3.4 million views, I did apologise on said post
Well done @Peadar. Is this an example of miracles do happen I have to say that comparing your screenshots, each of the ones shown in your first screenshot are quite dark but not so dark in the second screenshot. Can you explain this?
@AdamGT whenever the triangle appears, indicating a photo or video taken in the European Union was rejected by the filter, the thumbnail also appears darker. It seems, this is done purposely by Google and the original photo was not changed.
Yesterday, I got one too. In that case, I made picture of the opening hours which were posted at the glass of the front door. I assume, the reflection did disturb the AI and I deleted the photo, because it didn’t provide any additional information anyway:
So tonight is update night
My maps contribution page on app says
1387 pics
& I adjusted to this value on the T100
Am I correct in doing so
Because I’ve 94 triangles @AdamGT @Annaelisa @WilfriedB @tony_b
If I scroll through my most viewed timeline
This picture from 9 years ago is my first triangle
Is it’s view count hidden
I don’t fully understand
I see nothing wrong with it
I think owners flagged
Not sure really
While on topic
This makes me really mad
I took this picture @ my wife’s aunts
(102 years old)
funeral & the business hijacked
I loved because of autumnal colors representing her life
They obviously too
Not fair
It’s view count stopped for me years ago
Most times, when the SPAM filter rejects a photo, we cannot see, why exactly this happened. I found it very helpful to read @MortenCopenhagen’s excellent articles: Common Photo Violations.
Some things, you might verify quickly, though:
are there recognizable faces on the picture
or is there some text overlaid on the picture?
If one of the above is true, you might delete the photo (after downloading it, if you don’t have any local backup), try to crop to remove the face(s) or letters and upload again. In one case, I was able to solve it by removing a traffic sign - no idea why it was rejected in the first place.
If you are perfectly sure, there is nothing wrong, you could fill in this form for contributions not visible on Google Maps and the relevant team will go through your contributions. The ones that follow the guidelines, will be reinstated.
However, I doubt this being wise as long as you have this big number (94) of hidden photos and would recommend to try first to cleanup (i.e. delete) as much as possible by yourself.
Personally, I check all contributions immediately after uploading and delete rigorously, if the triangle appears. I also always track my older contributions, in case one gets hidden later. In at least one of those cases, I was able to successfully appeal to get around 10 photos from different business listings reinstated, but I consider it big exception.
