Curio Casa is a home décor and lifestyle store in Indiranagar, Bengaluru. The architectural and interior design of the store was undertaken by Cadence Architects, with the project team comprising Sharan Mallesh, Vikram Rajashhekar, Narendra Pirgal and Sonali Gupta. The project was completed in 2023 and is conceived as an interior retail space that transforms the display of décor objects into an architectural experience.

Curio Casa is located at HAL 2nd Stage, Indiranagar, Bengaluru Bengaluru’s prominent urban neighbourhoods, known for its cafés, restaurants, retail outlets, boutiques and design-oriented businesses, making it an appropriate setting for a contemporary décor showroom.
3. Design
The design concept is described as “A House for the Intrigued.” Cadence Architects developed the showroom around the idea of an urban ruin, deliberately contrasting unfinished-looking walls with the refined and artistic décor displayed within them. The design uses extrusion and subtraction to create unusual spatial compositions. Oxide flooring continues vertically onto the walls, producing a monolithic appearance, while sleek gold-finished rods function as display elements.
Framing is another important feature: arches and the compound wall create visual frames for the displayed objects and establish an engaging relationship between the showroom and the street. An outdoor walkway incorporates furniture, greenery and a water pond, with circular platforms inspired by natural lily forms. This creates a transition between the built interior and the landscape outside.
4. Significance
Curio Casa is significant because it demonstrates how retail architecture can become an experiential and artistic environment rather than simply a space for displaying products. The contrast between raw architectural surfaces and sophisticated décor creates curiosity and encourages visitors to experience the products spatially.

The use of a relatively restrained material palette, integration of greenery and water, and the connection between indoor displays and outdoor spaces contribute to a more comfortable and visually natural environment. The reuse of the compound wall as an active display surface also demonstrates an efficient approach to using the existing site.
The project additionally reflects sustainability through its emphasis on durability, adaptability and experiential design rather than excessive ornamentation. Curio Casa’s broader brand philosophy also supports Indian craftsmanship; the company has stated that around 30% of its products were sourced locally, alongside its international collection.
