The ancestral flower field of the Aztecs

Legend has it that the ancient Tenochtitlan was founded in the lagoons of the Valley of Mexico, where an eagle devoured a snake. A vestige of that vast lake empire is Xochimilco, whose main tourist activity is the trajinera boat rides along its canals, whose banks are lined with lush trees and exuberant bushes. During the tours it is common to see beautiful waterfowl (Pablo Neruda said of the heron: the white silk has a body of fishing snow). A distinctive feature of the place are the plots dedicated to the cultivation of colorful ornamental plants, in the fertile “chinampas”, so it is also known as: the place of flowers. Its cultural dimension is recognized worldwide by UNESCO (Wikipedia). In particular, this magical scenery offers excellent views of the landscape, while listening to music and tasting the traditional pulque, which is a mild alcoholic drink with appetizing flavors such as mango.
