The act of sharing knowledge

I’m a migrant in my own country. I was born in Miahuatlán, Oaxaca (a small indiginous town in the sierra of Mexico) but right now I live in one of the largest cities of the world: Mexico City. When I came to live to Mexico City I felt like trapped by a lot of unknown places and countless different faces.

For a moment, I felt here alone and discconected , almost like if I had no identity, because I was far away from home. This buzzing, non stop, effervescent city almost demolish me.

But quickly I learned that the most I embrace the city, the most I knew museums, buildings, galeries, libraries or clubs, then this city started to belonging to me.

I came here not because I dind’t like my born place, but because I knew this city has the best to offer to a wild and curious boy like me: diversity and alternative culture.

I know I’m not the first one, and surely I will not be the last one; and because of that I’ve wanted to give what I can to help others like me to discover the city, in a friendly and easy way, by sharing the knowledge I´ve gained in my time living here.

So, every time I discover a place, I share it on Google Maps.

It wasn’t my intention becoming a Local Guide, but one day I realized my photos already had four million views, and that triggered a warm sensation inside of me, the kind of feeling when You give something whithout expecting retribution.

That makes me feel special. The act of sharing knowledge.
