The Iron Pillar is located within the [Qutub Minar complex](https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t5/General-Discussion/The-%20 Glorious-Past-of-the-Qutub-Minar-in-Delhi/td-p/2751868 ) and a single entry ticket will also give you access to several other monuments including the Alai Minar and a medieval Sundial.
The iron pillar is famous for the rust-resistant composition of the metals used in its construction. It is one of the many mysterious monuments of wonders in Delhi. It stands tall as one of the foremost metallurgical curiosities of the world due to its virtue of being not affected by the elements for over two millennia. Installed in the open central courtyard not a speck of rust is seen despite being thousands of years old.
Around the pillar are ruins of several Hindu temples that were destroyed by invaders. The ornate carvings on the pillars stand in testimony to the glory and magnificence of the original temple that was constructed several centuries ago.

According to the tour guide who showed me the Arabic dome over the entrance that was modified originally from a Hindu temple, from inside it is decorated with the flower petals that is a prominent feature of Hindu architecture. Elsewhere the galleries decorated with pillars reveal the open secret that this was once a flourishing and prominent Hindu temple as seen in the collage below.

You are always awesome @TusharSuradkar . I visited this Qutub Minar Complex in the year 2009. Really a fantastic experience there. Your pictures took me back those days. I had no phone at that time. So didnтАЩt get any pictures. Many lovers, couples came those daysтАЛ:smiling_face:. Truly a beautiful blog.
I was at the Qutub Minar in 2003 and even today the monument looks the same, except the ticketing is now computerized and takes triple the time compared to 2003
