Established back in 1918, Paramount in college street is probably the best sherbet shop in Kolkata. The specialities here are the dub sherbet (Tender coconut drink) and green mango lassi. Itβs been heard that the recipe of dub sherbet was by Acharya Prafulla Chandra Roy. The syrups are family secrets. Whenever I visit College Street to buy some books, I donβt forget to stop by there. My favourite one is green mango lassi. It is made of yoghart, mango flavoured syrup and crushed ice. On a hot summer day its a complete bliss. This place was a favourite visiting place for many freedom fighters (Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Pulin Bihari Das),
Thanks for sharing @ruma_m ! I had to Google βsherbet drinkβ to understand what it isβ¦ and I still donβt! Iβm familiar with sherbet sweets but I donβt know if the drinks are similar. Is it like a cordial drink? Is it fizzy? I presume itβs sweet?
By the way, you can make your post more exciting by sharing the Google Maps link to the Paramount shop! This would help readers find the place and see what it is like! Perhaps, share a link to your review of the shop too!
Also, youβve talked about the sherbet drink being popular with famous peopleβ¦ but what are your views on it? Which flavour is your favourite? Do you go there often? How much does a drink cost? Lots of interesting info that you can share with us excited readers!
@AdrianLunsong Thank you for your valuable suggestions. I have tried to implement them. It is a cordial but non-fizzy drink. Dub sherbet is made of tender coconut pulps, crushed ice and some syrup. Green mango Lassi is with yoghart, mango syrup and crushed ice. Most of the syrups are sweet. However, the tamarind sherbet is sweet and tangy.
