That Moment Went You Realize: "Oh wait, I can review this place on Google!"

Do you ever find yourself realizing that you’re visiting a store, restaurant, location, or landmark that you might be interested in reviewing on Google?

Maybe you’re in a social situation with friends, clients, or on foot in a hurry.

Here is a quick list of things to remember to do before you move on to the next big thing to capture a decent review.

  • Take photos | Any and all photos will work, but try to get entrances, shots of extraordinary assets, or how humans are using the space.

  • Be in the moment | This is sometimes tough. What does the space feel like? What is the noise level? What do you hear, see, smell? These are all remarkable things to include in your review of other people.

  • Highlights | Was it something you ate that looked good? Was it the fabric of the seats or the natural lighting that was perfect for photos? What made your visit to this place happy? What made you feel like you wanted to share it? Capture that in a sentence or two and save it for later when you’re writing your review.

I had this experience in a coffee shop while I waited for them to prepare my latte. Here is an image I snapped and what I would write.

This coffee shop is a diamond in the rough. Who would have thought that adjacent to an ordinary gas station along an interstate would sit such an extraordinary place. This welcoming, plant-filled shop is the ideal environment to meet with friends, clients, or enjoy a moment of solitude. Complete with a kids’ space, it’s like a haven for busy parents and entrepreneurs in need of wifi alike. Menu items are traditional, with the exception of locally sourced meals from the local vegan restaurant, local baked goods from a favorite baker, and plenty of healthy grab-and-go options. They are even gluten free friendly! I recommend the almond mocha, which I decided to switch from to go, to for here to savor the environment a bit longer.

What tips and tricks do you have for those moments when you realize you stand among greatness? And want to tell the world about it! With little to no time to do so.

Great thoughts, @katybrown !

I couldn’t agree more. There are some places you discover where you say ‘I must share how great this is right now!’ Whether it is a delicious meal, a hole in the wall, or just the sweetest business owners who made your day.

I love sharing if a restaurant has a secret menu or item that stands out. I like to point out if there is a constant chatter so I can bring my loud twin boys. Does this place have games or small tables for kids? Does the server know the menu well and make thoughtful recommendations? Is the owner or manager kind and happy to take my order? As for photos, I go for clear exterior shots in places like you were so they can find it easier.

Thank you for sharing and for your dedication, @katybrown .
