Thankful Thursday: Showing appreciation for Local Guides who entertain and inform

Thankful Thursday is a new recurring feature on Connect showcasing some of the most dedicated Local Guides in our community.

Thankful season is upon us here in the United States. With the Thanksgiving holiday happening today, we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to kick off our new series devoted to Local Guides we’re thankful for.

Our first Thankful Thursday features two Local Guides who have followed their passions and brought joy to the Map in doing so. We’re thankful for Local Guides like Tyler and Jay who can provide help to others and make us smile with their creative contributions. Local Guides share a love of food and these two Local Guides do an excellent job of curating entertaining and informative reviews in two beloved categories: onion rings and tacos.

Tyler Groenendal, Level 6

You might remember Tyler from when he was featured as the “Onion Ring King” on the Keyword in 2018. Two years later, Tyler is still making us smile with his epic reviews of the best onion rings on Google Maps. We love that he’s continuing to follow his passion and contributing the types of reviews he loves to write on Google Maps. While onion rings may not seem like a serious matter to some, Tyler’s entertaining reviews are helping numerous businesses by driving awareness and helping others choose where to eat.

Jay Keyes, Level 8

We love that Jay is staying true to his passions: tacos and helping people. An avid Mexican food reviewer, Jay is known for writing beautifully descriptive reviews accompanied by high quality photos. In 2019, he visited and reviewed over 280 taco places on Google Maps. He continues to spread joy and information by reviewing taco places in different ways like describing options for takeout, curbside pickup, and outdoor dining.

Join us in celebrating these awesome Local Guides in the comments! Know someone who should be featured in this series or in another way on Connect? Tell us about them using our nomination form.
