My mom hails from a small town Sambalpur in Odisha, where educational opportunities were scarce. Despite only completing her education up to 8th grade, she always dreamed that her children would have access to education. Today, I am proud to say that her dream has come true. With her blessings, all four of us—my younger sister and two brothers—are well-educated and thriving in our respective fields. My sister is a Director at Capgemini, and my elder brother is a manager at Gold Seal Company.My younger brother did Automobile business.
One of the most important lessons she imparted to us was the value of education. She believed that while material possessions like gold or silver could be taken away, education is something that can never be stolen.
She also taught us two invaluable life lessons:
Never Spread Your Hands for Help: She encouraged us to work hard and earn our own livelihood, no matter the ups and downs in life.
Avoid Loans: She emphasized the importance of saving money and purchasing what we could afford, cautioning us that loans could lead to sleepless nights.
Additionally, she taught us the importance of caring for family and maintaining strong family bonds. She always emphasized that we should remain connected and support each other, especially during times of happiness and sorrow. She believed that even if there were misunderstandings with relatives, we should stand by them during significant moments, such as weddings, and offer our support and forgiveness.
Today, as a family, we continue uphold these values. While my siblings have had to take loans for significant investments like purchasing homes, my younger brother and I have chosen to manage without credit cards, staying true to the principles our mom instilled in us.
Her teachings have shaped our lives, and we are grateful for her wisdom and love.
Elders are the roots of our existence, grounding us with their wisdom and love.
Their blessings are the quiet strength behind every step we take.
The love and blessings of elders are life’s most precious treasures, guiding us through every phase.
Thank you mom inculcating good habits in us this legacy with continue in your grandchildren.
